Tell me about the room.
I apply every square foot myself, so I take a small number of projects a year. The more you can tell me up front, the faster I can say whether I’m the right person for it.
- ScaleWhole rooms through whole houses. Cost per square foot drops as the job gets bigger, because the setup is the same either way.
- Service areaAustin and up to 60 miles. Travel past 30 miles quoted per day.
- Lead timeOne applicator, first coat to last. A room is days; a whole house is weeks, usually phased by area to fit your build schedule. Worth asking about early.
- SubstrateWalls delivered smooth, flat and primed to level 5. Prep by others, or priced separately.
The inquiry
Thank you. Your inquiry is in.

How it goes
Lime plaster is a living material and no two walls come out the same. The process around it doesn’t vary at all.

01
You write
The form above. The room, the walls as they stand today, and anything you’ve already specified. The more you can tell me, the faster I can say whether I’m the right person for it.

02
I see the room
Or the drawings, on new construction. We talk through goals, timeline, color and texture, and I read the substrate under a raking light — which is the only way to know what the plaster will tell on.
-
03
Two samples
Troweled in the finish and build you’ve chosen, in your light, on your substrate. Included with a signed project. You approve the real thing — photographs lie about sheen, and lime moves as it cures.

04
The quote and the schedule
Per square foot, by finish and build. Ceilings, scaffold and heavy detail carry their own adjustments and all of it is on the quote rather than discovered later. A whole house is phased by area, scheduled around your other trades.

05
The work
Site masked and protected before anything is opened. Every square foot troweled by me, first coat to last — no crews, no rotation, no handoff halfway. You hear from me as it goes, not only when it’s finished. Cleaned and hauled away at the end.

06
Ninety days later
I come back and touch up anything that has moved. Lime keeps curing for months after the room is in use. That visit is part of the price, not a call-back you have to chase me for.

For designers and architects
Every finish is tinted to order. Send a paint number and I develop the match with the mill, then trowel a sample in the finish you’ve chosen and in your light, for approval before the room is started. If you keep a materials library, I’ll make you a board for it.
Questions
What is Venetian plaster?
Venetian plaster is a lime-based wall finish made from slaked lime and crushed marble, troweled on in thin coats. The two I apply are Marmorino, which builds in two coats and reads soft and stone-like, and Veneziano, which goes on in two or three paper-thin coats and can be burnished to a marble polish. Both are breathable mineral finishes, not paint.
How much does Venetian plaster cost in Austin?
Every room is priced after I’ve seen it. Square footage, how many coats the finish needs, whether it’s burnished and the condition of the walls all move the number, so a figure quoted before I’ve walked the space wouldn’t be worth much. Tell me about the room and I’ll come back with a quote. Sample boards are quoted with it, and credited in full against the project when you sign off within sixty days.
What areas do you serve?
Austin and up to 60 miles. Travel past 30 miles quoted per day. That covers Travis, Williamson and Hays counties, plus Lakeway, Bee Cave, Westlake, Dripping Springs, Georgetown and Round Rock.
How long does a Venetian plaster project take?
One applicator, first coat to last. A single room is a matter of days; a whole house runs into weeks and is usually phased by area to fit your build schedule. Custom tinted samples take ten to fifteen days to come back from the mill, so it’s worth asking early.
What condition do the walls need to be in?
Walls should be delivered smooth, flat and primed to a level 5 finish. Lime plaster is thin enough that it reports the substrate rather than hiding it, so anything left in the drywall will read through. Prep is by others, or I price it separately.
Can you match a specific paint color?
Yes. Send a paint number — Benjamin Moore, Farrow & Ball, Sherwin-Williams — and I develop the match with the mill, then trowel a sample in the finish you’ve chosen so you can approve it in your own light before the room is started.
Marmorino or Veneziano — which should I choose?
Marmorino is the more forgiving of the two and suits whole rooms and ceilings. Veneziano is the deeper, glassier finish and belongs where depth is the point: feature walls, entry halls, dining and powder rooms. It also demands a flatter substrate. If you’re not sure, I’ll advise once I’ve seen the room.
Do you plaster ceilings?
Yes, and a good deal of my work is ceilings. Burnished Marmorino on a ceiling catches the light in a way flat paint can’t.
Who actually does the work?
I do, every square foot. No rotating crews and no subcontracted finish work, which is why the surface stays consistent from one wall to the next.
How do I start a project?
Send the room, the paint number if you have one, and your timeline through the form on this page. I reply within two business days.
